French Classes - WINTER 2025

Do you want to learn or perfect your French? Take the opportunity! Take a French course this winter!

Société francophone de Maillardville (SFM) offers a series of courses in sequence to allow students to acquire basic structure and vocabulary of fundamental French. Each level has 10 lessons in the series and advanced classes are also offered. During the fall, the students will take 1 class a week during 10 weeks.

We have the discretion to open and close classes depending on the number of students. Our team does its best to offer courses adapted to its students within the limits of the number of students enrolled per class.

Winter 2025 - IN-PERSON CLASSES FOR CHILDREN & ADULTS - 10 CLASSES - BOOST YOUR LEARNING PROCESS!

 

  • Kids & Adults classes begin the week of January 6th (end of classes the week of March 17th).
  • $200 for 10 classes.
  • In Person classes for adults & children at Société Francophone de Maillardville (938 Brunette Ave #200, Coquitlam, BC V3K 1C9).
  • Each class is 90 mins long.
  • A maximum of 20-25 students will be accepted per class to provide a maximum of personalized support.
  • A minimum of 6 students are needed to run each class.

Beginner: 0 – 40%

Intermediate: 41 – 70%

BEGINNER LEVEL > Tuesday : 6:15 - 7:45 pm

  • Basics of French.
  • Phonetics and French sounds.
  • Articles and gender of nouns.
  • Auxiliary to be and to have.
  • Verbs of the first group.
  • Dialogues and reading text.

INTERMEDIATE LEVEL > Tuesday: 8:00 - 9:30 pm

  • Revision of Level 1.
  • Verbs of the 2nd and 3rd groups.
  • Demonstrative and Possessive adjectives.
  • Learning past tense: perfect tense and imperfect.
  • Dialogues and reading text.

ADVANCED LEVEL > Wednesday : 6:45 - 8:15 pm

  • Revision of Level 2.
  • A class divided into 2 parts: revision of the knowledge (grammar, vocabulary, conjugation) and a second time for conversation (read articles, debates, dialogues etc.).

KIDS (IN-PERSON CLASSES)

If your child is between 6 and 15 years old, this is the best time for them to learn or improve their French!

As bilingualism continues to grow in Canada, the Société francophone de Maillardville has created a Kids After School Program to respond to the rising demand.

Our program offers different options to accommodate various needs and serve Francophone and Francophile students from BC.

(Please note that our program does not offer parent-participation option.)

  • Songs.

INTERMEDIATE LEVEL > Monday:  6:30- 8:00 pm

Age: 6 - 15 years old

  • Revision of Level 1.
  • Verbs of the 1st group.
  • Demonstrative and Possessive adjectives.
  • Nouns.
  • Learning past and future tenses.
  • Vocabulary.
  • Dialogues and reading text.

ADVANCED LEVEL > Thursday : 6:30 - 8:00 pm

Age: 6 - 15 years old

  • Revision of Level 2.
  • Verbs of the 2nd and 3rd groups.
  • Grammar (singular and plural, form and type of sentence, simple and complex sentence…).
  • Reading texts.
  • Writing a story by respecting the order of events (who, when, where, what, why).

PRIVATE ONE-ON-ONE TUTORING FOR KIDS

One-on-One Tutoring sessions will develop and strengthen students’ knowledge of the French language and help them for their future exams.

French Classes Registration / Winter 2025 / IN-PERSON CLASSES FOR KIDS & ADULTS

Cancellation and refund policies

NO REFUND, except for the cases mentioned below:

  • The SFM reserves the right to cancel a class prior to the beginning of the series if we do not receive a sufficient number of registrants for the class (minimum of 6 students per class). If a class is cancelled by the SFM, registration fees will be refunded unless students can transfer to another class.
  • Should the SFM determine that we do not have the resources to help a student, for any reason, we reserve the right to cancel the student’s participation to this series and provide a complete or partial refund of registration fees.
