French Classes – Société Francophone de Maillardville

French Classes - Winter 2026 (January 12th to April 1st)

Do you want to learn or perfect your French? Take the opportunity! Take a French course this fall!

Registration opens on November 28th 2025 and closes January 6th, 2026.

Société francophone de Maillardville (SFM) offers a series of courses in sequence to allow students to acquire basic structure and vocabulary of fundamental French. Each level has 10 lessons in the series and advanced classes are also offered. During the fall, the students will take 1 class a week during 10 weeks.

We have the discretion to open and close classes depending on the number of students. Our team does its best to offer courses adapted to its students within the limits of the number of students enrolled per class.

ADULTS (IN-PERSON CLASSES)

BEGINNER LEVEL 1> Tuesday : 5:30 - 7:00 pm

Basics of French.
Phonetics and French sounds.
Articles and gender of nouns.
Auxiliary to be and to have.
Verbs of the first group.
Dialogues and reading text.

BEGINNER LEVEL 2 Wednesday : 6:45 - 8:15 pm

Build simple sentences and basic conversations
Use the present tense of common verbs like être, avoir, aller
Ask and answer simple questions
Learn everyday vocabulary (family, food, daily life)
Understand and use basic grammar (gender, plurals, negation)
Gain confidence speaking and understanding simple French
of French
Phonetics and French sounds.
Articles and gender of nouns.
Auxiliary to be and to have.
Verbs of the first group.
Basic Dialogues

INTERMEDIATE / ADVANCED LEVEL > Tuesday: 7:15 - 8:45 pm

Revision of Level 1-2.
Verbs of the 2nd and 3rd groups.
Demonstrative and Possessive adjectives.
Learning past tense: perfect tense and imperfect.
Dialogues and reading text.

KIDS (IN-PERSON CLASSES)

If your child is between 6 and 15 years old, this is the best time for them to learn or improve their French!

As bilingualism continues to grow in Canada, the Société francophone de Maillardville has created a Kids After School Program to respond to the rising demand.

Our program offers different options to accommodate various needs and serve Francophone and Francophile students from BC.

(Please note that our program does not offer parent-participation option.)

Cancellation and refund policies

NO REFUND, except for the cases mentioned below:

The SFM reserves the right to cancel a class prior to the beginning of the series if we do not receive a sufficient number of registrants for the class (minimum of 6 students per class). If a class is cancelled by the SFM, registration fees will be refunded unless students can transfer to another class.
Should the SFM determine that we do not have the resources to help a student, for any reason, we reserve the right to cancel the student’s participation to this series and provide a complete or partial refund of registration fees.
