Event Coordinator

About the Société francophone de Maillardville

The Société francophone de Maillardville is a community organization dedicated to promoting the French language and culture in British Columbia. We offer family activities, cultural programs, and community events that support the vitality of francophone and francophile communities in the region.

We are looking for a passionate, friendly, organized, and creative person—someone warm and engaging, comfortable with people, and naturally able to create a positive atmosphere.

Main Responsibilities

Events

  • Plan, organize, and coordinate SFM events, including annual activities, the festival, fundraisers, and community gatherings.

  • Prepare schedules, logistical plans, materials lists, and timelines.

  • Coordinate suppliers, artists, partners, internal teams, and volunteers.

  • Ensure on-site presence for smooth operations, participant welcome, and management of unforeseen issues.

  • Produce post-event reports and suggest improvements for future editions.

Communications

  • Support SFM communications for events and activities.

  • Manage social media, the website, the newsletter, and various digital tools.

  • Work comfortably with WordPress to update pages, images, and content.

  • Create and publish visual and written content to promote programs, services, and events.

  • Ensure a cohesive, inclusive, and engaging brand image.

  • Maintain good relationships with local media and community partners.

Partnerships and Project Support

  • Collaborate with community, school, and cultural partners.

  • Support volunteer recruitment and coordination.

  • Contribute to sponsor outreach and partnership proposal development.

  • Assist with grant applications related to events.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Relevant experience in event planning or communications.

  • Excellent ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

  • Creativity, autonomy, and initiative.

  • Strong writing skills, content creation abilities, and social media management.

  • Proficiency with digital tools, including WordPress and social platforms.

  • Ability to work as part of a team and interact well with diverse audiences.

  • Ability to work under pressure during event periods.

  • Proficiency in French and English.

  • Asset: knowledge of the francophone community or cultural sector.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Be francophone or francophile.

  • Be between 15 and 30 years old.

  • Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or protected person under IRPA.

  • Have the right to work in Canada.

  • Be legally authorized to work under provincial or territorial law.

Working Conditions

  • 30-hour-per-week position.

  • Flexible schedule based on event needs.

  • Occasional evening or weekend work.

  • Salary based on experience.
