Youth Voices in Action
CREATE YOUR OWN DOCUMENTARY!
A youth project exploring linguistic duality
Are you 12 or older and interested in film, journalism, video, or telling stories from your community?
Join a unique project where you’ll learn the basics of journalism and video production, then work with other youth to create a documentary about linguistic duality.
A 3-STEP JOURNEY
1. Learn
Take part in two workshops led by professionals from Radio-Canada and Tri-Cities Community TV.
2. Create
Put your new skills into practice through research, interviews, filming, and editing.
3. Share
Present your documentary at a closing event and share your perspective on linguistic duality with the community.
TELLING YOUR STORY
Throughout the project, participants will have the opportunity to reflect on their own relationship with language and bilingualism.
They’ll meet members of the community, gather personal stories, and explore different perspectives on linguistic duality.
With guidance from professionals in journalism and audiovisual production, youth will learn the different steps involved in creating a documentary—from preparing and conducting interviews to filming and editing.
