About the Société Francophone de Maillardville:
The Société Francophone de Maillardville is a community organization committed to promoting the French language and culture in British Columbia. We offer family activities, cultural programs and community events that support the vitality of the francophone and francophile community in the region.
We are looking for a passionate person with a big smile, organized and creative. Someone warm and personable, comfortable with people and naturally able to create a positive atmosphere.
Main responsibilities:
Within the established budget, the successful candidate will be responsible for registrations, payments and communication with parents. They will also occasionally assist the summer camp coordinator in developing themed activities and during French-language outings. In addition, they will support the Société Francophone de Maillardville team in setting up cultural and youth activities.
Qualifications and assets:
- Bilingual (French and English)
- Meet the selection criteria of the Canada Summer Jobs program
- Post-secondary training in administration, accounting, communications, recreation or community/cultural research would be an asset
- Interest in francophone culture and community
- Attention to detail
- Comfortable with the public and youth
- Knowledge of Microsoft computer systems
- Strong organizational skills, initiative and autonomy
- Ability to manage multiple projects at once
Requirements: This position is funded by Canada’s Young Canada Works in Both Official Languages program. The candidate must therefore:
- Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or have refugee status in Canada (non-Canadians holding a temporary work visa or awaiting permanent resident status are not eligible)
- Be legally authorized to work in Canada
- Be between 16 and 30 years old at the start of employment
- Commit to working for the full duration of the employment
- Not hold another full-time job (more than 30 hours per week) during the Young Canada Works (YCW) employment period
- Have been a full-time student in high school, college, CEGEP or university (as defined by the educational institution) during the semester preceding YCW employment
- Intend to return to full-time studies during the semester following YCW employment
- Have a working knowledge of both French and English
- Be willing to work in another region of Canada
Transportation and accommodation costs: The Young Canada Works in Both Official Languages program will cover the cost of one round trip from the student’s permanent residence to the workplace for students who must relocate at least 125 kilometres from their permanent residence. The program also offers a housing allowance of $200 per month for rental expenses.
